The Laboratory of Primary Health Care, General Medicine and Health Services Research serves teaching and research needs in the field of Primary Health Care, General Medicine, Social Medicine and Public Health and Policy.
The general objectives of the Laboratory are to create an active, research and educational, reference section on these subjects. In other words, to develop functions and activities in these sub-objects by dividing the directions:
Primary Health Care - General Medicine
Social Medicine - Public Health
Health Policy & Health Services Research
The purpose of the laboratory is to:
a) Undergraduate and postgraduate coverage of the teaching and research needs of the Department of Medicine as well as other Departments and Schools of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
b) The cooperation of all forms with research centers and academic institutions of the country and abroad , provided that the scientific objectives coincide , coincide and complement each other with those of the laboratory.
c) The organization of scientific lectures, seminars, seminars, symposia, conferences and other scientific events, publications and publications and the invitation of Greek and foreign recognized scholars.
d) The provision of services as provided for by P.d.159 / 1984 (Gazette 53 A).
Specifically the direction:
Primary Health Care - General Medicine
- Research activities in the relevant subjects within the framework of the Research and Training Network at the PFM and by developing research collaborations with corresponding national and divisional structures.
- Educational activities:
- Undergraduate level : support and development of current courses, that is, Clinical Practice in PFM and General Medicine, Clinical Skills Laboratory, Introduction to PFM. Already this year, the pilot implementation of "Introduction to PHI and Clinical Skills" begins with the first year of undergraduate studies.
- exploring the possibilities of collaborations for training in PHI and other health professions (Nurses, Health Officers, Social Workers, etc.)
- Postgraduate level : development of the Seminar at the PHI (3rd semester postgraduate) and exploring the possibility of creating a postgraduate postgraduate (initially with the University of Crete Medicine).
- Specialty: gradual intervention planning - involvement in the specialty of General Medicine (proposals at KESY, training in Social Medicine - Public Health, participation of trainees in the Training Center, etc.)
- Interdisciplinary continuing education : support and development of regular seminars in PFIs with the aim of continuing interdisciplinary education in PFIs
- Undergraduate level : support and development of current courses, that is, Clinical Practice in PFM and General Medicine, Clinical Skills Laboratory, Introduction to PFM. Already this year, the pilot implementation of "Introduction to PHI and Clinical Skills" begins with the first year of undergraduate studies.
Social Medicine - Public Health
- Research activities in related subjects with emphasis on the experience gained by participating in field research such as vaccinations, West Nile virus and Epidemiological Study of Morbidity and Risk Factors.
- Educational activities:
- Undergraduate level: course support and development Research Methodology. Exploring the possibility of planning and developing an Epidemiology course and a gradual involvement in Social Medicine
- Postgraduate level: course support and development Epidemiology and preparation for English language development.
- Specialty: Development of involvement in the training of Social Medicine - Public Health and Medical Work specialties.
Health Services and Health Policy Research
- Research activities in related subjects with emphasis on health impacts from the austerity policies applied, the restructuring of health services and the design of new health policies. Support and development of the respective Observatory.
- Educational activities
- Undergraduate level: exploring and planning a health economics course in the early years.
- Postgraduate level:
- Support and development of the Seminar on Health Policy.
- Design and development of an English-language Postgraduate Health Policy with international collaboration
- Continuing interdisciplinary education : supporting and developing regular seminars on individual subjects.
